What does a Trustee do?

Don’t worry, you aren’t the first person to ask.

The Watertown Free Public Library’s mission calls on it to serve people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. The library offers books and other media, public programming, and opportunities for civic and social engagement as well as theĀ Hatch, an innovative maker space that provides space, tools, equipment, and materials.

As you can probably tell, fulfilling the WFPL’s mission is a complex endeavor. It requires not only intelligence and creativity, but also a significant responsiveness to the community’s needs and concerns.

That’s where the Trustees come in.

The Board of Trustees serve as the elected oversight for the Watertown Free Public Library. Trustee members vote on the budget and any special expenditures, review policy changes, provide feedback, and serve as the voice of the people in the management of the library.

As Trustee, I’ll work on behalf of every Watertown resident to make sure that the WFPL continues to pursue its important mission.
